Background:
At the time of apocalypse several military laboratories successfully created cyborgs--sentient beings with both biological and artificial components. Due to the extreme secrecy of the projects, the public-at-large had no knowledge of cyborg production and records relating to the assembly and activation of cyborg units were lost during the years of the great plague, or simply have not yet been recovered.
Because cyborg units never reached the mass production stage, all cyborgs remaining in the Greater Rivertown wasteland are concept models and no two are exactly alike, though all have some military capability or function. Cyborgs exist as both male and female and come in both child and adult models. It is suspected that several variations had organic material susceptible to the superflu that wiped out much of the human race.
As society collapsed, several high ranking military officials transferred ownership of their prototype cyborg units to the MPD, who quickly deployed them in their brutal crackdowns. Without proper documentation following each unit, the programming and reprogramming of individual cyborgs has been imprecise and has been known to cause erratic and unpredictable behavior, as well as infinite directive loops that can trigger an instant meltdown of the cranial processing unit rendering the unit brain dead.
